Acrania has a bit of panache and legacy here. They’re a true intermediate band – they’re not “old school” but certainly not modern either. They don’t fit in to that turn of the aughts deathcore mold, but due to thelinear passage of time, they are also not really a “MySpace” band either. True destined to be hyped up on Facebook during the core-era changing of the guard. But that’s ok! That’s what WV is about!
I’m so happy this release gets to coincide with the 10 year anniversary. The band has been working hard to get all their material back, and I can think of no better way to honor this material than with a WV release! Its fuckign expensive, but I think they deserve it after a decade of never really reaping the fruits that they sowed with this. A little treat and a lionization of everything that they set out to accomplish on this album. I really hope you enjoy everything that went in to this – truly a seminal album, presented in a truly heirloom way!
The ”problem” is that the original art is SO iconic. How can it be improved upon? Well, it can’t – it can only be expanded! For this one, I enlisted Daemorph to paint an alternate angle of the original. Biggest money man? Yes! More sacred calf/money bad imagery throughout? Yes! Amped up the “dystopia” themes, and even more detail. I think its an incredible reimagining and like, hits with the OG almost exactly. Of course, Kai over at Lab.13 did an incredible job on the layout and all the finer details throughout the inserts! Zach over at Third Eye Studios brought some new detail in to the master, and of course, Gotta Groove and Wax Mage pressed some of their most opulent records yet for this.
