Let me start this one off by saying that NO ONE does it like New Standard Elite. The empire and roster they’ve been able to build off their “No Gimmicks” policy is untouchables and they’re truly a pillar of the slam/brutal death community. It’s an honor to be putting out a release that was on NSE, and even more fun that the band is comprised of of even earlier WV alumni! Next up is none other than Delusional Parasitosis!
Its rare to hear brutal death this FAST. Normally a trash can snare is just a little treat, but for Delusional it’s just a sibilant ringing throughout the entire album. The sonic quality of the most insanely dynamic gurgles you’ve ever heard over the nonstop blasts and snare pings almost makes this feels transcendental. Your spirit leaves your body as these primal sounds just like, lull you in to a hypnotic state. It stops being music and just becomes texture. But then you have these slams that just rush you back to reality. “Wait, thats a guy making that sound! Those are guitars! This is music?!!!” Its hard to describe, but I think there’s really primal monkey brain activation when you’re listening to something like this.
For the art, I knew we had to get Daemorph back. He did the original cover like a decade go, and with projects like this I always think its so much fun to return to the original artist and see their reinterpretation. Its really an insane homage to the original - the palette and the subject matter are identical, but just showing an alternate angle on the parasite take over. I think it 10000% the slam-test album cover on WV, haha. Just an incredible job all around! And a huge thanks to Alex at Downpour Designs of 5th layout not his one - really brought it all together!
