Rowsdower - The Michael Jordans Of Suicide

I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m a big fan of MySpace. So when this band came about and I learned it’s composed of a supergroup of members from ADMIRAL ANGRY and BLACK SHEEP WALL I was confused, scared, excited and eager to listen! I Ended up being blown away!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: NO ONE is doing sludge/doom like Rowsdower.

It’s emphatic, weirdo southern sludge and I’m obsessed.

I know this might seem a bit out if context in the WV lineup, but I’m all about embracing the weird, and highlighting things that are/we’re pushing boundaries. This is such an incredible debut. It’s slow and brooding, but with vocals that you would not expect from the genre. It’s sludhy and dissonant and even a little bit southern/rock n roll. It’s such a dynamic release, and you can immediately tell that Rowsdower drew a lot of influence from AA and BSW. There’s genre bending in here that you just have to hear to believe!

When I first heard this when it dropped, WV wasn’t even fully fleshed out as a label, but I contacted them anyway. “I don’t know when I’ll be able to put this out, but give me some time and one day maybe the platform will be there.” I think now is finally the time. I think everyone who was around during the BSW heyday will immediately gravitate to this. If you’re a fan of “good music” there is something for you here. It’s a much different type of energy than the usual WV fair, but I would love to use this JMI series to showcase and highlight bands from across the spectrum. This is the type of stuff I listen to in addition to the grind, haha.

Again, not every WV release has to be for everyone! But! I think if you’re the type of record collector that I know you all are, you can appreciate a little bit of diversity!

So, please join me in welcoming one of the most ambitious, niche, well-thought out and just outright fun release that will be dropping this year! The Michael Jordans of Suicide is almost an hour of genre pushing sludge.

These bad boys should be in hand and shipping in 2020. Production should be done mid December. I don’t like sending stuff out during the Christmas USPS boom, so might ship in January. Not 100% hard timeline, but just to be conservative!
