It took some finagling with Lifeforce Records, but we got it all. The seminal EP and the LP. Literally another example of the perfect discography - you lead with a genre defining EP then get picked up and release the true, polished, final form of your sound on the debut album. Multidimensional is arguable the best djent album ever made and will forever be a tentpole of the genre. Untouchable. Its almost a “you had to be there” type of album it was so mind-blowing when it dropped. Almost 15 years old at this point! First wave! Something THIS good coming out THAT soon in to the birth of a genre. Just hard to even put it in to words.
I don’t even know what to talk about here to be honest. Are you a fan of djent? Then you know. If you’re not, then you don’t care. Are there people who missed this whole microcosm? Did you like Substructure and like, this is a new thing for you? Then man, no FFO is going to make it worth checking out. Every other band can put FFO: Lifeforms, this is the name brand here. Its got the perfect early aughts EP charm - its raw and “rare” and feels so cutting edge. Then Multidimensional hits and you’r taken to the future.
For this one, call me cliche, but I really wanted to have a big hand-painted thing to juxtapose how digital the music and previous art is. We expanded on the themes of Multidimensional and pulled in the color palette from Synthetic - we’ve got a B&W dude getting sucked in to a colorful multiverse. A little on the nose? Sure! But I’m nothing if not a ham-fisted hack! And its a huge gatefold, just just a lot of cool art from Adam Burke aka Nightjar on this one. Kai absolutely nailed the layout as well - so much so in fact that you can’t even see most of it. So much fine detail that FB is just destroying it on the compression. You’ll never get to experience the “full” art unless you grab a record!
Was so much fun to work with the band, Nightjar, Kai and Zach on bringing this whole release to life. The art is big and bold. The variants are just as insane as you can imagine. These tracks sound AWESOME. Its everything I love to do at WV. I hope you enjoy!
