Ivebeenshot - Doza

Variant

This one has been a year in the making, and for the last release of the year I could not be more excited to announce that it’s Ivebeenshot!

If you know, then you know what a grinder this is. If you don’t, I’m so happy to introduce you to one of the most ferocious, over the top, noodle/deathgrind/pseudo-tech/gutral breakdown extravaganzas to ever be created. It’s over 30 minutes of some of the most pummeling tracks to ever be created during the era.

IBS is one of those bands that your favorite caveman/grind band’s guitarist lists as an inspiration. It seems like during the early 2000s everyone was getting more playful and melodic. In the vein of Destroyer Destroyer and Robinson, IBS used this time to get even more brutal. Not to say there aren’t moments of levity, but it’s more “you just laughing at how brutal it is” and less “goofy interludes.”

DOZA is the culmination of all of my favorite early MySpace elements. The breakdowns are ridiculous. The vocals are guttural. There are pig squeals galore and blasts for days. The guitars are just wankery, but still have a lot of riffs. It starts and stops on a dime, but also has passages of real headbanger shit. It’s such a dynamic record, and honestly one of the best, most legendary efforts from 187 records. No one really is making music like this anymore. It’s so raw and fun.

So we’ve established that this is a certified 187 banger. I’ll also say that this is one of the more pronounced audio jobs from Zach at Third Eye Studios
as well. I know I way “this sounds better than ever” but it really does. Half an hour of just eye rolling brutality.

Art was once again handled by Ben Hoagland. It’s a very subtle, tasteful update ont he original. If you have one of the OG CDs, you’ll see where are lot of these details and colors are pulled from. It’s a color punched, texturized version of the original. It retains all of the charm, but really kind of brings it in the the WV universe, haha. It’s understated, but really will look fantastic on a large format art piece like a record jacket.

Everything about this release makes me so happy. It’s 187 records, it’s LONG, the audio and art are fantastic, and one again is a rare scene collectible that’s getting its first vinyl pressing. It’s the perfect WV release, and I hope you all love it as much as I do!

Due to some new rules at my pressing plant (and longer turn times due to a recent influx of other labels doing tons of mage-heavy pressings) pressing time is going to be LONG. the good news is, no compromise on the number of signature series variants, but the trade off is time and price. I’m anticipating these in late April? Maybe early May? I’ll keep you up to date of course, but after January 1st preorder, everything else will be an instant drop!

But anyway. These go live on Friday at 1:00 CST. The tracks are up in bandcamp now, so give it a spin and let me know what you think!
