At this point, I’m not sure if you need an introduction to the JMI series. But if you do, it stands for “Just Missed It” - it’s a showcase designation for bands that don’t fit the 2000-2010 niche, but still represent something that I think is important or want to press. For Match’s first release and the third JMI ever, I’m so happy to present Casino!
If you’re in the know, you probably have seen this EP and fawned over how breakneck it is. It’s an absolute MySpace techgrind tour-de-force. They took everything that everyone loved from that era of sass and dialed it up to 11. It’s a half hour of Sawtooth worship with even noodlier guitars, and more chaotic pacing.
Revealer is all the energy and polish you love about the current revival, with a heavy does of throwback charm. They were doing this back in 2014 before it was cool for bands to be scene again. So many of these great mid 2010s outfits kind of toiled to moderate acclaim - and this JMI seeks to rectify that! I think in 2021 we can all see what a blistering, fun, unlistenable ride Revealer is.
If you’re a fan of 2019 early WV releases, you’re not going to want to miss it! It’s some of the most deliberate and raucous mathgrind put out in the past 10 years! And it’s not without its scene charms either - samples, breakdowns, inside jokes, the criteria have all been met!
One again, Art was handled by Ben Hoagland. This updated cover ties in more of the anatomical sketch work that’s present on some of the interior art from the original release. The metal textures have been dialed up and the whole art expanded in typical Ben style. It’ll come with a lyric insert and a bunch of photos!
Audio was handled by the wizard at Third Eye Studios, Zach Sebastian yet again. If you’re a fan of CASINO you’re going to love how these remasters sound.
This one time pressing is limited to 300 copies across five variants (and don’t think they’re going to be muted yellow and grey records - this album was based off a mushroom trip, so, uh, they’ll be cool)
Preorder for this will go up Friday, March 5th at 1:00pm CST. See ya there!
