War From A Harlots Mouth - You May Not Be Through With the Past, But the Past is Through With You

Variant

I think people had an inkling that I'd be putting out a War From A Harlots Mouth release at some point, but I don't think anyone was expecting THIS!

WFAHM is absolutely one of my favorite bands. Backbite's pressing of "Falling Upstairs" was instrumental to setting up WV - an old demo, never on vinyl, cool skeuomorphic cover art, and one of my favorite bodies of work by a MySpace era band. And at the same time, it broke my heart knowing the last thing from WFAHM that wasn't on vinyl, no was on vinyl. What's a "no represses" label to do when your favorite band is also one of the best at vinyl? There was nothing I could do! Until...

Simon and I were talking (as vinyl nerds do) and this idea of a B-sides and demo compilation was born! Enjoy for the first and only time all of the best, deepest cuts from the WFAHM catalog! Japanese songs from the Pentagon.3 split. Pre-production demos and remixes. And lastly, finishing up the LP, the very first WFAHM practice/bedroom demos. It's an incredible wealth of history, and if you're as big a WFAHM fan as me, i know you'll LOVE it. And on a personal note, for those of you that know me, know that WFAHM is a VC band for me. I’m such a huge fan girl and doing this release has been the ultimate honor. MMX was the first record I ever bought haha. The fact that I can meet my heroes, AND put out something out that’s this history, just warms my heart.

In addition to the audio throwbacks, art was handled by the legendary Joshua Belanger. You might recognize his style from the cover of MMX! It was a blast to have him take on a "young/old" motif for this release - I think the art is just killer! And of course, layout and formatting and additional edits by Kai at Lab 13.

Audio was taken care of the man himself, Simon, at Sludge Studios. I think it’s so cool that we can have a band member do the audio, and have it be reflective and updated to the bands vision. It’s been a fun process getting this ready for vinyl, and while some of the older tracks are “rough” they’re all 100% listenable. If you don’t feel a certain way hearing the progression of this compilation, I’d be surprised!

The vinyl itself is one of my most ornate sets yet. 300 copies across five stellar variants, including some INSANE signature series variants. (Side note). This should really give you some insight in to what all these preorders will look like - they're they’re all the same breakdown.
