I’m really happy that SGR included me in this Surgeon release. As I’m sure you’ve gathered by now, I’m a downtempo guy. And I especially love this 2023/2024 revival of stuff that is definitely downtempo, but with production that plays an important role.
This Surgeon album is just SO overproduced. Just insanely over the top. I think it’s a shining example of what you can do with a “dead genre” to modernize it for current year. There’s so many laugh out loud moments on this album, it’s just so much fun all the way through.
I wanted to make sure that WV doing some distro copies of something made sense and was presented in a way that was cool and indicative of WV. It’s only 50 copies, but I wanted to make sure it was as deluxe as possible! We did a LOT on these - check it out!

Art on this release was handled by none other than Mr. Merch Vessel himself! I thought with the current art being AI and the whole release having this kind of digital/future veneer on it, I wanted to kind of go the opposite. It’s like, old school analog representation of digital. It’s textures and old school graphic. Digital grounded in the “real world”. I think it’s a fun dichotomy!
